Dear Alesis,I have a problem.I recently bought the Alesis Multimix 8 USB FX.When I plug it into my computer (first I tried it on my Laptop) it recognizes it by: USB AUDIO CODEC. So I assume I need to download the Driver first.I downloaded a driver on your website, checked if all details were right, 32 bit system, Windows 7 Premium etc.Ofcourse run as AdministratorWhen downloading it asks me to plug in my mixer on the computer if that's not already done yet. So that's what I do. The Problem is that the driver won't install.

Everytime when the installation fails it says:Unfortunately the installation failed (Error Time Out 0x0005).How is that possible? I tried it on a desktop with a 64 bits system (with the associated driver) I tried it on another desktop with a 32 bits system. Actually I tried everything. Also when installing Cubase it does not work.I use Sonar Cakewalk, but I thought by installing Cubase the driver would be installed automatically.I tried the Quickstart Guide as well. Following the instructions for the Audio Setup.I spent hours on trying to install everything but it just won't work.

I also went to several producers or people who work with software and recording everyday, without success. So, what else can I do. I really need this problem to be solved.Nick van Wyk. Thank you for your quick response! But yes It's on every computer. And yes that's the one I have!I was just trying to install the driver on Alesis.com, the Driver for the Alesis Multimix USB FX 2.0But how come if I don't need a driver, even Cubase won't recognize all the 8 tracks. It's just USB Audio Codec Left & Right. But I should have 8 single tracks, right?I prefer working with Cakewalk Sonar, but the problem is that both (Sonar & Cubase) do not work.My guitar teacher is using Cakewalk Sonar and is using a Multimix 16 track mixer. When he plugs the mixer in the computer it recognizes the mixer as: Alesis Multimix etcetera. He had to install a driver for it but if I don't need a driver I should get the same right?Hope you can help me out, this is so frustrating! Dear J Sandeen,In regard to your last post on this subject, what, according to the specification on the alesis website, does this mean then?-Like the other mixers in Alesis’ MultiMix USB series, the MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX contains a complete USB recording interface.

Where this mixer differs from others in the lineup is in its USB 2.0 technology. This enables you to send 10 channels (8 input channels plus the 2-Track input) individually to the computer, at up to 24-bit, 96 kHz resolution. Because each channel is sent individually, you can use virtually any DAW or other music software for mixing and editing the incoming audio. J sadeen,I have seen that the mulltimix 8 2.0FX was discontinued, Could you suggest for me the next mixer that I could use for 10 input recording. I have heard I need the multimix 8 usb 2.0 but I cant seem to find those for sale anywhere(expect a couple on Ebay).

What I do see is what is called Multimix 8 FX but I heard that was on 2 channel record. I did see a couple that said multimix 2.0 Fx (also on Ebay) and they did look almost exactly like the firewire version (which I loved) So I am confused, which one is the one that will do what I want, at the best price, that I can buy brand new. I thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide in this situation. Happy Holidays. HiAs i read i am not the only one who can not install he alesis mm 8fx driver. When connect alesis to computer and cubase 5, i can chose usb audio codec hidden under asio4all but even selected, only 1 chnnel stereo recording is avaible. I tried 8 stereo input 8 mono input and outputs as well but cannot recieve sounds in seperated channels. Now is it a problem of me ( as know how of cubase 5 ), problem of asio4all version or usb audio codec?

This is a serious problem and i think so many people feeling the same.Would be happy if share your opinionsThank you. Hi, thanx for reply. I almost tried everything anything. Specially when i open up stereo or mono input channels at vst connection page, the correspondant audio line is always ' usb audio codec' and it does not matters how many channels you make, it always sends stereo mix of 8 channels on multimix 8 usb fx.

Cubase isnt an obligation for me, i am connecting my roland td30 drum module to alesis and any daw that i can make 8 seperated channel recording may fit me ( there are 8 direct out cables which goes from td30 to alesis' chanelles).
